Jabil Circuit Inc. has announced it would build a second plant in India and a fourth plant in Wuxi, China, as the electronic manufacturing services provider seeks to expand its global presence in Asia.
Jabil (St. Petersburg, Fla.), presently has 40 plants worldwide.
The India plant, expected to begin operating mid 2005, will be a 175,000 sq. ft. facility in Ranjangaon, near Pune, in the state of Maharashtra. The plant, with pc board assembly, distribution, and repair services along with design services support, can be expanded to 400,000 sq. ft.
The Wuxi, China plant, expected to begin operating Fall 2005, measures 515,000 sq. ft, with expansion capabilities to 900,000 sq. ft.
