Acer Computer to elevate U.S. market position through Walmart distributions

Eying on the US market, Acer Inc. aimed at the Walmart's distribution channel, hoping to become one of the top-five PC brands in the U.S.
 
Maarten de Haas, vice president of Acer U.S., recently stated his company would adopt a price-slashing policy to reach the annual sales goal of between US$2 billion and US$3 billion by 2007. There are several Acer-brand notebook PC available in the Walmart's website selling at US$698, US$998, and US$1,198 respectively. Not only notebook PC, but also Acer's 17-inch LCD monitor cost around US$298 each.
 
With the results in the third quarter, Acer was placed in the ninth as the largest vendor in the U.S. in the third quarter of this year with sales of 65,000 notebook PCs, up by 150% from the same period of last year. The company sold 70,000 notebook PCs in the U.S. marketplace in the first half of this year. Overall, the company currently stands at the eighth spot in the U.S. PC market. Acer would launch a massive sale campaign for desktop PCs on the Walmart website soon, paving the way for the distribution of LCD TVs that targeted at the consumer sector.
