FIC to make notebooks in Suzhou

First International Computer Inc. (FIC), a subsidiary of the First International Holding Co., has recently received a huge notebook PC's orders from Fujitsu-Siemens Co. FIC said the new orders will boost next year notebook forecast and said the company is preparing to start manufacture notebook PCs in their Suzhou plant in Jiangsu Province of China.
 
Capable of producing 200,000 ~ 250,000 units of notebook PCs per month. The amount of orders from Fujitsu-Siemens is not disclosed. M.J. Chien, chairman of First International Holding, said his company would be able to reduce production costs by 2% after relocating production facility from Taiwan to the mainland in 2005.
 
Meanwhile, FIC is trying to strengthen its relationship with its big clients particularly Lenovo Group, according to C.L. Chang, president of FIC's portable PC subgroup. Lenovo has recently acquired the personal computer segment of the U.S.-based International Business Machines Co. FIC is striving to serve and continue business relationship with the new Lenovo group. Presently, Lenovo Group is laying out its projects for 2005.
