Cisco Systems will acquire Airespace for $450 million in stock to expand its offerings in wireless data transmission systems, a source familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
Airespace makes equipment for wireless fidelity, or WiFi, a technology that allows users to connect to the Internet or other networks without cumbersome cables, through the use of short-range signals.
Airespace in September won a key partnership with IBM to offer WiFi systems to some of IBM's corporate customers.
