Internet users in China hit 94 million by the end of 2004, according to a survey, with broadband users jumping to almost 43 million.
Nevertheless, that numbers translate into 7.2 percent of the whole population, still below the world average of 12.7 percent, an analyst said.
The survey showed Hong Kong and Macao lead the pack with 3.3 million and 201,000 users online, which mean 51 percent and 46 percent of their population respectively.
