NEC Electronics Corp. of Japan announced Monday (Feb. 14) it will license the RaSer X backplane serial link interface technology from Rambus Inc.
The Rambus RaSer X is designed to tackle difficult interconnect issues associated with backplane environments in high-speed enterprise switches and routers, storage area networks, and blade servers. It allows up to four times the bandwidth of existing solutions, according to Rambus (Los Altos, Calif.).
The first serial link licensed to NEC Electronics will operate at 6.25 Gbps.
