NEC Electronics America Inc. announced Friday (March 25) the appointment of Yuichi Kawakami as its president and chief executive effective April 1, succeeding current president and CEO Toshio Nakajima.
Kawakami will oversee day-to-day operations of NEC Electronics America (Santa Clara, Calif.) and will be responsible for setting and delivering on the company's strategies and goals. He has held various executive management positions in his more than 30 years at NEC Corp. and NEC Electronics Corp., most recently serving as vice president of NEC Electronics Corp.'s sales and marketing operations unit.
Nakajima return to NEC Electronics Corp. in Japan to serve as a corporate officer overseeing system LSI business development April 1. He will continue to serve as a member of the board for NEC Electronics Corp. and become chairman of the board of directors for NEC Electronics America.
