Court rules Infineon didn't infringe Mosaid's patents

Monday, April 4, 2005

The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey issued a summary judgment order regarding several issues in the patent case between Mosaid Technologies Inc. and Infineon Technologies Inc. in which Mosaid asserted Infineon infringed on seven of its patents in memory products.

The court ruled that Infineon do not infringe six of Mosaid¡¦s patents in the accused products. The court did not rule as to whether or not Infineon¡¦s products infringe the seventh patent filed by Mosaic.

Also, the court ruled that as a matter of law Mosaid would not be permitted to rely upon the doctrine of equivalents to overcome any limitation of any of the asserted claims of the patents in suit.

Further, the court ruled that Mosaid could only seek damages for the period prior to filing the lawsuit for products specifically identified in its letters notifying Infineon of the claimed infringement.
