Acer Inc., Taiwan's top personal computer maker, said its net profit in the first quarter rose 54.6 percent from a year earlier to 2.15 billion Taiwan dollars (68 million US).
The company said operating income reached an all-time quarterly high of 1.94 billion Taiwan dollars, representing a 117 percent increase year-on-year and 27.5 percent quarter-on-quarter.
Sales in the three months to March rose 32.9 percent from a year earlier to 65.71 billion Taiwan dollars.
"Optimum implementation of these factors lets Acer create a more effective and sustainable operation to generate fast revenue and profit growth across the long term," it added.
