Inotera Memories expects to begin volume producing 512Mbit DDR2 chips using 90nm process technology next quarter, according to company president Charles Kau.
Inotera will be the first DRAM supplier for Infineon Technologies to volume produce DDR2 chips using 90nm process technology, Kau said.
Inotera will also begin construction on its second 12-inch wafer fab in mid-May, Kao stated. The company aims to have a quarterly processing capacity of 160,000 8-inch equivalent wafers at the two fabs by year-end, up from about 80,000 now, with total output this year increasing more than five-fold over the 82 million chips produced last year, Kao added.
Inotera is a joint venture between Infineon and Taiwan-based Nanya Technology, with the companies originally agreeing to share output 50:50.
