Lenovo Group, has recently sent its notebook PC orders to Quanta Computer and Wistron Corp for overseas markets. Lenovo the first announcement made it after its acquisition of International Business Machines (IBM) desktop/Notebook PCs business unit.
Quanta will manufacture 400,000 of15-inch LCD size NBs per year while Wistron taking larger share with 500,000 NBs with 14-inch LCD size. Lenovo is eying to take larger market share in China, facing fierce competition from foreign brands such as Dell Computer, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Acer. Sources indicate that Lenovo will continue IBM’s legacy in overseas markets, but will introduce less-expensive NBs than its competitors.
Beside notebook PC, local sources reported that Yang Yuanqing, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Lenovo planning to attend Computex Taipei exhibition, schedule to start end of May. Local industry watchers said Yang's visit will bring US$5 billion worth of business opportunities to Taiwan's industry. Lenovo's Taiwanese contract suppliers include Quanta Computer, Wistron, Compal Electronics, Gigabyte Technology, Elitegroup Computer Systems and Hon Hai Precision Industry.
Also there is a rumor that Lenovo has presently negotiating with Computex organizer, Taipei Computer Association (TCA), to organize trade shows in China.
