Infineon Technologies decided to open a new Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, the company said.
Infineon's headquarters in Singapore will serve as the focal point for its regional operations, including research and development, logistics and sales. The facility also houses a chip design center, and has been designated the global testing hub for Infineon's logic IC products.
Speaking at the opening ceremony for the new facility on May 12, Infineon CEO Wolfgang Ziebart called it a "milestone" that would prime the firm for further success in a region that already contributes over one-third of Infineon's global revenues.
"With Asia on its continued path as one of the strongest growth engines for the semiconductor industry, Infineon is poised for further growth," Ziebart said.
Active in Singapore since 1970, Infineon currently employs some 2,350 staff here, including 300 research scientists and engineers and 200 IC designers. It has invested a total of about $603 million here.
