Contract prices for memory products, such as DDR, DDR2, SDRAM and NAND flash, rebounded in July according to manufacturers and suppliers. For the 256-Mbit DDR-400, contract prices went up by 2.3 percent to $2.2 while prices for 512-Mbit DDR-400/333/266 memories went up by 3.3 percent to $4.4. Several DRAM makers say the upward trend for prices is expected to continue until September due to high seasonal demand.
An organization called DRAMeXchange foresees quotes for 256-Mbit DDR-400 surging to a peak of $2.6 between September and November this year.
Taiwan-based Nanya Technology Corp. has increased its contract price for 256-Mbit DDR-400 DIMMs (dual-in-line memory modules) by more than 5 percent to $23.
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. from South Korea has similarly increased its quotes of the segment 20 percent higher than average contract prices. The company also raised quotes for its 4-Gbit and 8-Gbit NAND flash chips by $1 this month.
Hynix Semiconductor Inc. is also set to raise its price for 16-Mbit SDRAM-166 to $0.7 per unit.
