ProMOS Technologies claims that solid support from Hynix Semiconductor has the company two months ahead of schedule on its 90nm wafer production roadmap.
Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC) and the Nanya Technology-invested Inotera Memories are also moving along with their 90nm production roadmaps.
ProMOS chairman ML Chen indicated that 90nm made wafer starts will reach 3,000 12-inch equivalent wafers in September and then ramp up to 7,000 wafers by December.
Chen stressed that the company’s 90nm roadmap is two months ahead of schedule and market sources attribute the smooth process migration to strong support from its technology partner Hynix, as the Korea-based memory maker has been eyeing the NAND flash segment with its own capacity, and is looking to secure capacity for DRAM production.
PSC has received technology support from Japan-based Elpida Memory for its 90nm production since August 2004, with the company starting mass production of DDR on 90nm two months later. PSC has also scheduled pilot runs for DDR2 to be completed by the end of this year.
Inotera is also gearing up for 90nm production for DDR2 and will start volume shipments of 512Mbit DDR2 chips this quarter
