Nanya Technology rejected market talk that it has been in discussions with Germany's Infineon Technologies AG for buying the latter's memory-chip operations.
'In fact, the company has never been approached by Infineon for such a proposal,' said a Nanya Technology official who asked not to be named.
'As a company policy, we generally do not comment on such rumors,' she added.
The official made the remarks when asked to comment on whether Loh Kin-wah, Infineon's newly appointed head of its memory products business group, has approached the company for such discussions.
Both Inotera Memories Inc a joint venture between Nanya Technology and Infineon, and Nanya Technology itself are makers of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips.
Nanya Technology closed down 0.45 twd at 23.85.
