Fujitsu Ltd. today announced that it has filed patent infringement claims against Nanya Technology Corp. Japan, a subsidiary of Nanya Technology Corp.
The suit, filed in Tokyo District Court, alleges that DRAMs manufactured by Nanya infringe certain Fujitsu DRAM patents. Fujitsu seeks a court order against future importation and sales of infringing DRAM products, and compensation for past infringement.
The complaint follows several attempts Fujitsu has made to negotiate a licensing agreement with Nanya, Fujitsu said.
“Fujitsu has been conducting research and development of semiconductors for years and owns over 10,000 patents around the world in the field of electronics devices, including semiconductor memories,” said Masanobu Katoh, corporate VP and president of the law and intellectual property unit of Fujitsu, in a statement.
“We consider our intellectual properties as important company assets and believe it is our right to pursue their protection under international rules,” he added.
Officials at Nanya could not be reached for comment.
