Mentor Graphics Corp. said Tuesday (Aug. 23) it has partnered with the Electronic Design Automation Center at China Academy of Science (CAS) in Beijing to build a joint laboratory of system design.
Mentor (Wilsonville, Ore.) said it has worked jointly with the EDA Center of CAS since 2003, when the organizations established a joint lab of advanced system-on-chip (SoC) verification.
Mentor said the new joint system design lab would elevate the design level of electronic products at CAS, ensure the output of high quality electronic product designs and raise the market competence of research institutes.
As part of the agreement, Mentor said it would train personnel for CAS and provide a high-tech learning/training platform. In addition to offering technical training at the lab, Mentor plans to provide customer service and a number of its tools.
"By cooperating with Mentor Graphics, the application engineers of CAS system will be able to use the most advanced and constantly updated system-level product design tools," said Ye Tianchun, director of the EDA Center at CAS, in a statement. "We believe the overall design competence and CAS' design productivity will certainly be enhanced."
Daniel Yang, Mentor's managing director for the Pacific Rim, said Mentor has been paying close attention to the growing China market and has significantly increased its investment in the country in recent years.
"The strategic cooperation with CAS, China's most authoritative academic institute, testifies to the product power and service capacity of Mentor Graphics in the Chinese market," Yang said.
