Germany’s Infineon Technologies AG is in talks to sell its 150-mm fab to X-Fab Semiconductor Foundries AG, according to a report from the Financial Times Deutschland.
Infineon (Munich) is looking to sell its fab in the Perlach District of Munich. Germany’s X-Fab is a foundry specialist.
Earlier this year, Infineon said it is planning to close its 150-mm wafer fab at Perlach near Munich and move production to wafer fabs at Regensburg, Germany, and Villach, Austria. Manufacturing at Munich Perlach, which currently employs about 800 people, is set to end by early 2007. Infineon said it would seek other employment opportunities for as many of the 800 as possible.
