AMD announced that it has placed a multimillion dollar order for Yield Dynamics Inc.'s Genesis yield management software for use in its 300mm Fab 36.
Dresden, Germany-based Fab 36 will use the third generation of AMD's extensive patented suite of advanced fab technologies, known collectively as automated precision manufacturing (APM). AMD said it expects Genesis -- which it has used in other fabs for the past five years -- to act as a seamlessly integrated component within the APM framework, working in concert with APM's numerous proprietary yield management systems
"APM's unprecedented levels of automated decision-making enable us to stay at the forefront of manufacturing speed, accuracy and agility,” said Charles Clark, AMD director of global manufacturing services, in a statement. “The flexibility of the Genesis solution strongly complements these capabilities."
The exact dollar amount AMD paid for Genesis was not disclosed
