Elpida Memory will boost its 90nm DDR2 production proportion to over 50% in 4th quarter, according to Elpida Hong Kong president Toshiharu.
In order to lower per unit costs for DDR2 memory, Elpida will ramp its 90nm-made DDR2 proportion to over 50% by the end of this year, up from 10-15% currently, the company stated. This ratio should further increase upon support from its industry partner, the company noted.
Elpida anticipates that its 90nm made DDR2 output will grow by over 500% by the second quarter of 2006, compared to the current output. Elpida claims that 90nm is a mature process for the company and its allied partner should be able to smoothly introduce this process from next quarter and perform foundry services for Elpida starting from early 2006.
