Intel Corp. said it has signed a technology deal with Research In Motion Ltd., to supply processors for upcoming Blackberry mobile e-mail devices.
"In addition, Intel and RIM will continue working together to drive new wireless technologies and handset features," Intel said in a statement.
It said RIM would be using its processor "Hermon", which runs on high-speed mobile networks, in the Blackberry handsets, which are popular among corporate users.
"We chose the Intel (Hermon) processor because it provides us with the increased processing horsepower we need for future wireless applications, without compromising battery life requirements," RIM's Co-Chief Executive Mike Lazaridis said in the statement.
