Infineon Technologies AG and Nanya Technology Corp. reported they have expanded their joint effort in DRAM development.
The companies will co-develop advanced 60nm production technologies for 300mm wafers beginning this month as an extension of an existing relationship for the co-development of 90nm and 70nm production technologies.
The companies believe this work will help both companies expand their positions in the DRAM market while sharing development costs.
The new production technology to be developed at Infineon¡¦s facility in Dresden, Germany may be used by both companies as well as at their manufacturing joint venture Inotera Memories, with further collaboration on the development of 60nm reference products in Munich also planned.
Infineon and Nanya have together committed more than 100 people to work on this development project, with the first 300mm wafer memory products using the new 60nm process expected to leave the production line in 2008.
