Cypress Semiconductor Corp. and Grace Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. said today they have entered into a strategic foundry relationship in exchange for preferential volume access to foundry capacity.
The technologies transfer include programmable system-on-chip (PSoC) mixed signal array, CMOS image sensor, WirelessUSB, and PC clock process technologies.
In support of its high-volume, high-growth products used in consumer and computation devices, the increase in capacity supplements output from Cypress’ production facilities in Bloomington, Minn., and Round Rock, Texas.
Revenue from Cypress’ consumer and computation devices grew by more than 25 percent in Q3 and is expected to increase again in Q4. The chips are used in a variety of applications including MP3 players, set-top boxes, gaming systems, and computers.
