LCD monitor sales posted substantial gains during the traditional shopping week after the Thanksgiving, according to market research firm, Current Analysis. Unit sales of LCD monitors increased by 36 percent year-over-year amid falling prices, the firm said in a recent study.
“LCD monitors are hot items, and their recent price point declines are driving consumer demand,” said Current Analysis Displays Analyst, Christian Dias. “While we estimate that bundled sales contributed to 35 percent of all LCD monitor sales for the week of Black Friday 2005, the bulk of sales came from standalone purchases, which is a testament to the strong momentum of the category.”
Proview led all companies for unit sales as it seized 24 percent of the market, followed by Samsung with 20 percent. HP and Gateway tied for third place with 17 percent of unit sales.
