|
Monday, December 19, 2005
HP has announced that HP personal systems group (PSG) will help businesses and consumers enjoy mobility, commercial advantage and multimedia explosion from technology in the coming year.
With notebook PCs, tablet PCs, and pocket PCs based on wireless communications technologies, the company already offers one of the industry's broadest ranges of highly configurable mobile devices. In 2006, these solutions will be further strengthened.
"HP's iPAQ Pocket PCs will continue to grow in the enterprise in the coming year, with more vertical applications, including property management and field sales, coming online in Hong Kong. We are also enthusiastic about new mobile innovations, including RFID-based commercial solutions that place HP iPAQs in a critical position within the supply chain across multiple industries," said Zoe Kwong, general manager, personal systems group, HP Hong Kong.
Making mobile mail and messaging easier to set up, "push" email will be a key focus for 2006, with new HP solutions and alliances due to be announced.
The company will introduce more power-packed personal workstations and commercial desktops in 2006. It also announced the launch of HP dx5150 Business PC series, which is suitable for businesses, government, and education sectors. The desktop delivers new levels of features, performance and investment protection, supporting the 64-bit and dual-core computing future.
It will deliver thin clients that combine the lower cost of open source software with the service and support of certified partners; and roll out RoHS-compliant workstations that meet the global restriction of hazardous substances environmental protection standards.
The company will continue its focus on home entertainment in 2006 to drive the growth of multimedia in the home and on the road. Kwong expects a significant number of Hong Kong consumers to make the transition to Media Center PCs and notebook solutions in the coming months as they combine the two-foot experience of traditional PC usage with the 10-foot experience of using the PC as an entertainment hub connected to a TV.
On the consumer notebook front, the company will focus on launching trendy products with powerful processors and 12-inch ultra portable screen in the coming year. Last month, it launched its first piano white notebook -- Compaq Presario B2800 Notebook. Empowered by the latest Intel Centrino Technology and ATI Mobility Radeon X600SE graphics cards, the product weighs only 2.15kg, including the latest DVD Super Multi Drive and the 6-cell Lithium battery.
