Rambus Inc. said a judge dismissed a motion to throw out its lawsuit against chipmaker Hynix Semiconductor Inc., sending the computer memory technology company's shares surged.
Rambus filed the lawsuit against Hynix as it sought royalties from chipmakers on intellectual property that it said was used in standard computer memory chips.
Rambus said in a statement that after a two-week evidentiary hearing, U.S. District Judge Ronald Whyte of San Jose, California, denied Hynix's request to dismiss the case.
