LG Electronics Inc. wants to become one of the top three global producers of consumer electronics by 2010 by spending 2.5 trillion won on facility expansion and research & development activities.
Vice Chairman Kim Ssang-su told reporters on Friday that he wants his company to double sales revenue and profits over the next four years. This year, he said, LG would focus on qualitative improvements in its products.
The company's global sales last year were $36 billion.
Mr. Kim denied rumors that LG Electronics had begun raising funds to acquire Hynix Semiconductor Co. He said that it would be better for his company to look for other acquisitions or investments
