Distributors have reportedly dumped NAND-based flash memories from South Korean vendors into the China market, according to Dataquest Inc.
“It appears that some South Korean distributors dumped a considerable amount of Samsung- and Hynix-brand chips into the Chinese market, with other regions experiencing similar trends,”.
The move apparently follows lackluster demand for NAND due in part to the Chinese New Year lull. Overall spot pricing for NAND fell 4.3 percent last week.
Spot prices for 2- and 4-gigabit NAND parts fell 5.5 percent and 4.25 percent, respectively, last week. Higher-density 8-gigabit chips rose 2 percent last week.
