Nvidia Corp. said Thursday its quarterly profit more than doubled from a year earlier, as the maker of graphics cards saw sales rise nearly 12 percent.
Net income for the fourth quarter was $98.1 million, or 53 cents per share, compared with $48 million, or 27 cents a share a year earlier.
Nvidia had been expected to earn $88.1 million, or 49 cents per share, excluding special items, according to Reuters Estimates. The company did not provide a profit figure on that basis.
Revenue was $633.6 million, up from $566.5 million a year earlier and higher than the $625.1 million expected by analysts.
The company said its gross margins in the quarter improved by 6 percentage points from a year earlier, to 40.2 percent.
