Avnet Computing Components, a division of Phoenix-based Avnet Inc. has signed a distribution agreement with Kingston Technology Company Inc. to distribute Kingston’s memory products throughout Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
As part of the agreement, Avnet will market and distribute Kingston ValueRAM and flash memory products, concentrating on specific customer segments including value-added resellers, system builders and PC assemblers.
Avnet was particularly interested in Kingston because the company’s memory products complement AMD’s Opteron technology, another line of products that Avnet distributes. Avnet representatives noted that Kingston products are designed and manufacturered to blend quality and reliability with comeptitive pricing.
“Kingston makes a quality module that is very market friendly with its pricing,” said George Condon, senior VP of Avnet Computing Components, Americas. “Our target for system builders is to provide them with competitively priced products.”
Condon noted that Kingston’s compatability with AMD products was part of the choice to distributre Kingston memory products. “We do a certification of suppliers to validate the product is compatible with our existing products for the system building community,” said Condon. “Kingston is a perfect product to support our initiatives in the AMD product offering.”
Kingston’s ability to serve customers worldwide was also part of Avnet’s rational for taking on Kingston’s line. “The other key factor is that this is a global program,” said Condon. “We have a worldwide relationship with AMD, so the agreement with Kingston complements our relationship with AMD in each region of the world.”
