Inotera Memories has announced that its combined 12-inch wafer capacity will reach a minimum of 80,000 wafers per month by 2007.
Inotera claims that the wafer start amount for 12-inch wafer production at its first 12-inch fab, Fab 1, reached 60,000 wafers in August and the maximum capacity should reach 62,000 wafers by the middle of this year. The majority of DRAM produced at Fab 1 is manufactured on 0.11-mciron and the company will migrate to 90nm by the middle of this year.
The memory maker’s second 12-inch fab, Fab 2, which had a ground-breaking ceremony in May 2005, should see equipment move-in in November 2006. Inotera had budgeted approximately NT$23 billion (US$708.6 million) for Fab 2’s capacity expansion and the necessary funds will be raised through IPO and fund raising.
The combined capacity at these two fabs should reach a minimum of 80,000 12-inch wafers by end of 2007, Inotera stated.
