China-based PC vendor Tsinghua Tongfang confirmed that it placed orders for VIA’s C7-M processor for use in its entry-level V30 notebook and observers believe that this should considerably boost VIA’s performance.
Tsinghua Tongfang noted that its V30 notebook should be the first China-made notebook that adopts VIA’s solutions, thus marking a milestone for VIA extending into the China OEM market, the report stated.
Besides the C7-M processor, which is made on IBM’s silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology on a 90nm process, the V30 will be equipped with a with a 14-inch panel and 256MB DDR, noted the paper.
