Renesas Technology decided to outsource all its 4Gbit NAND flash production to Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC), according to company sources.
Company sources at Renesas stated that the company will not produce any in-house NAND flash after clearing out its present stocks, perhaps by the end of this year.
PSC, which already produces 4Gbit NAND for Renesas and has licensed the IP (intellectual property) for 1Gbit NAND, may benefit from the decision, the sources added.
PSC declined to comment on the speculation and claimed that the partnership with Renesas remains unchanged, according to company.
