Sun sues Azul on IP infringement

Friday, May 5, 2006 Sun Microsystems has sued computer maker Azul Systems Inc., accusing it of patent infringement, according to several online reports.

A Wall Street Journal online report said the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court in San Jose, alleges that Azul infringed on a number of Sun patents that deal with memory design in microprocessors and technology that helps transfer information between chips.

The suit also reportedly claims that Azul chief executive and former Sun employee Stephen DeWitt used Sun's IP to develop products at Azul after signing a non-competitive agreement with Sun.

Azul earlier sued Sun, accusing it of making unfounded patent-infringement claims, according to reports.
