A number of entry-level desktops built based on the SiS662 chipset from Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS), will be available in June from some OEM makers and the channel market, according to sources at SiS.
Following the company’s announcement of the availability of the SiS662 in early March, SiS has recently begun volume production of the integrated northbridge chipsets, the sources noted.
In related news, SiS reported yesterday that it posted revenues of NT$826 million (US$26 million) in April, down 0.3% sequentially and down 7.5% on year.
After gaining an 11.1% on-year growth in revenues in the first quarter, the company, however, is holding a rather conservative view for its revenue outlook for the second quarter when the industry enters its traditional low season, according to company sources.
Rival VIA Technologies also expects its second-quarter revenues to be down 10-15% sequentially from the first-quarter’s NT$7.01 billion, which was up 79.7% from a year earlier, according to sources at the company.
