Mosel Vitelic has decided to stop DRAM production by the end of the first half of this year and gear up for the development of the solar cell market, according to company chairman ML Chen.
Solar cell production is expected to be Mosel’s chief business by the fourth quarter of 2007, but until then pure-play foundry services for driver IC and power management (PWM) ICs will be the company’s major sources of revenues, Chen revealed during the company’s investors conference.
He pointed out when he became Mosel chairman last year, he promised to reduce the proportion of DRAM production. In March, DRAM accounted for only about 8% of Mosel’s total revenues for the month, he said.
