Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing this month began acting as a second source for 90 nanometer AMD processors, according to one report.
The pure play foundry’s CEO said that shipments of the processors will begin as early as July, according to a Reuters report.
An AMD spokesman, however, said he could not confirm the report. Rather, he said AMD is still on track for the plans it has previously announced – volume production of 90nm processors at Chartered is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2006.
Chartered could not immediately be reached for comment.
