Microsoft has choosen the newly formed memory subsidiary of Infineon Technologies, Qimonda, as preferred supplier of 44.8Gbit/sec. graphics RAM for the Xbox 360 video game console.
Qimonda, which was spun out of Infineon last month, will supply 512Mbit GDDR3 RAM for the Xbox 360.
With high performance graphics capability key to the Xbox 360, each of the eight GDDR3 16Mbit x 32 components used operates at a rated clock speed to achieve data bandwidth of up to 44.8Gbit/sec. per memory device.
