Acer will begin worldwide shipment of Ferrari-series notebooks, which feature the AMD Turion 64 X2 CPU, at the end of July, according to the company. Both black Ferrari lines - the 12.1-inch 1000 and 15.4-inch 5000 models - will each be priced at about 2,000 euros (US$2,543), said the company.
Sales of Acer's Ferrari series totaled about 200,000 units in 2005, company sources indicated, estimating that sales will top the 100,000 mark this year. Overall, Acer shipped about 6.7 million portable PCs worldwide in 2005, according to data compiled by IDC.
