Elpida Memory Inc. posted a profit of 6.6 billion yen ($57.6 million) for its first fiscal quarter, compared to a net of $13.1 million in the previous period and a loss of $28.8 million in the like period a year ago.
Sales were $803.1 million in the period, up 91.7 percent from a year ago. The company posted sales of $671.5 million in the previous period.
Bit growth was up 23 percent quarter-over-quarter, but average selling prices fell 3 percent. The company attributed the gains to the surge in the DRAM market.
