Hewlett-Packard Corp. reported GAAP net earnings of $1.4 billion, or 48 cents per share on sales of $21.9 billion in its third fiscal 2006 quarter ended July 31. By comparison, the computer maker earned $0.1 billion, or 3 cents per share on sales of $20.8 billion in the year-ago third fiscal quarter.
Hewlett Packard saw sales in the Americas region rise 8 percent year-over-year to $9.7 billion, Asia-Pacific sales up 7 percent to $3.8 billion, and sales in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa up 2 percent to $8.4 billion.
Sales in the company's Personal Systems Group, which includes desktop and notebook computers, grow 8 percent year-over-year to $6.9 billion. HP's Enterprise Storage and Servers business posted sales of $4.1 billion, up 3 percent year-over-year.
For the fourth fiscal 2006 quarter, HP expects sales of $24.1 billion, with GAAP earnings per share of 57 to 59 cents. The company expects full-year GAAP earnings of $2.14 to $2.16 per share.
