A South Korean court has ordered Samsung Electronics Co. to pay damages to nine shareholders who claimed the company tried to prevent them from quizzing executives at a 2004 shareholders' meeting, a judge said Thursday in an Associated Press report quoting The Houston Chronicle.
The report was quoted as stating Samsung and its chief executive Yun Jong-yong were ordered Wednesday to pay a total of 13.5 million won ($14,000) to the shareholders who sued, said Judge Shin In-soo of Seoul Central District Court.
Samsung is reportedly studying the ruling.
The shareholders reported Yun verbally insulting them and being thrown out by guards after trying to pose questions criticizing management.
