Micron Technology Inc. has introduced a 16-Gbyte memory module for servers the company claims is the densest available.
The module encompasses 72 2-gigabit DDR2 die, packaged as 36 4-gigabit TwinDie components developed on Micron's 78-nm process mode. The TwinDie stacking technology shortens and simplifies connections to the chips, according to the company, speeding access to data and producing a thinner form factor.
Micron (Boise, Idaho) is now evaluating samples of the 16-Gbyte modules and will introduce them in late 2006.
