Intel setup entrepreneur program

Thursday, September 7, 2006 Intel will build on its academic program here with a technology entrepreneurship initiative in partnership with the University of California at Berkeley.

Intel's initiative is designed to promote innovation and research at Indian schools as well as transform the country's high-tech business sector. Also planned is a certification and faculty training program on the Berkeley campus for developing training programs in India. Intel hopes to introduce the program at 45 Indian institutions by the end 2007, Manav Subodh, manager of Higher Education at Intel India, was quoted as saying.

A program tool kit including curriculum, business model competitions and other exercises will initially be made available to institutions such as Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, based here.

Intel said it will also assist in establishing business incubators and provide venture capital through its VC arm, the report added.
