Micron contributed $750,000 to Virginia Tech to refurbish the college semiconductor processing laboratory that was opened Wednesday.
The lab will be equipped with advanced equipment purchased with state funds and federal research grants.
The lab will be used to expand electronics engineering education at Virginia Tech and support faculty research on semiconductor technology, the university said in a statement.
Micron operates a 300-mm memory plant in Manassas, Va., about 200 miles northeast of Virginia Tech.
