Transcend Information Inc. disclosed that will gradually raise its capacity in its new facility in Shanghai, targeting eight SMT lines by the end of next year.
The module maker began operating its Shanghai plant in July, with two operational SMT lines at present. The plant's capacity is about 30 percent of the company's 2.2 million-unit-capacity in its Taipei facility, which has seven SMT lines.
Transcend sources most of its components from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, Hynix Semiconductor Inc., Powerchip Semiconductor Corp. and ProMOS Technologies Inc. In addition, the company is targeting to raise the revenue share of its flash memory products from 55 percent this year to 60 percent next year. OEM assembly services to DRAM and NAND flash makers are also projected to account for 10 percent of the company's business next year. DDR2 is expected to take 60 percent of its DRAM module shipment in the last quarter of the year, from the more than 55 percent in Q3.
