Mitsubishi Electric has received a subpoena from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division, seeking information about the sales of its SRAM parts in the United States.
In 2003, the company's SRAM business was spun off and transferred to Renesas Technology Corp., one of the Mitsubishi Electric's affiliated companies in which Mitsubishi Electric holds a 45 percent interest.
"We are unable to predict the impact these actions will have on the issues relating to this matter including but not limited to a possible adverse affect on our business performance in the future," according to the company.
Recently, two SRAM vendors — Cypress Semiconductor Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. — have been contacted about an investigation in the arena. The investigation is over alleged SRAM price-fixing practices
