United Microelectronics Corp. reported sales of NT$9.05 billion in October, down 1.99 percent from September but up 0.13 percent from the like period a year ago.
Revenue for the January-October period rose 20 percent to NT$87.04 billion ($2.65 billion), according to UMC.
UMC posted a strong Q3, but the company sees a slow Q4. The company said sales were NT$27.85 billion ($842 million) in the third quarter, up 8.2 percent from the second period, and an 18.1 percent increase from the like period a year ago. Net income was NT$8.59 billion ($260 million) in the quarter, up 42 percent sequentially and up 296.9 percent from a year ago.
