Novell Corp. that Microsoft Corp. will make a $240 million upfront payment to the company as part of an agreement to allow Novell's open-source Linux software to work with Windows.
Microsoft and Novell announced last week that the two former rivals entered into a a broad set of business and technological agreements, which will run until at least 2012, to make their products work together better.
Novell will also make an upfront payment and ongoing royalty payments, but Microsoft will pay $108 million more since the software giant sells more products.
