Taiwan-based memory card vendors have been slashing prices to boost year-end demand in Taiwan.
The vendors have being aggressive with their pricing strategy, as November is a traditional slow period and this month is even slower than the same period in previous years, the memory card vendors said, while adding that demand has been slow since October in Asia markets, in particular the Greater China region.
Since mid-2006, several memory card makers that use Samsung NAND flash memory have been eying the low-end segment by offering significant price cuts, sources said. In addition, several branded makers have even started to receive OEM orders for the white-brand market, the sources indicated.
